APT Design, Drafting & Construction

APT Design, Drafting & Construction works from Altona, Melbourne, focusing on residential building design, drafting, town planning and construction coordination. The studio develops each commission around the site, the way the building will be used, planning requirements and the practical objectives of the project. Its work includes new homes, dual occupancies, multi-unit developments, renovations, extensions and commercial or industrial work. From the first discussion, scope, spatial priorities and the approval pathway are considered together so that an early concept can continue into planning, permit and construction documentation without losing its original direction. During design, APT Design, Drafting & Construction considers layout, site response, daylight, circulation, architectural character and buildability as connected decisions. Since 1987, the team has combined design, planning, engineering consultants and building knowledge within one service model for clients across Melbourne’s west and north. Residential work is shaped around everyday living and long-term use, while development and commercial projects also address site yield, planning controls, parking and access, building use and consultant requirements. This allows the design to become progressively more resolved rather than being recreated at each project stage.
