KIRK Studio

KIRK Studio was established in Brisbane in 1995 as Richard Kirk Architect and works across architecture, urban design and environmentally sustainable design. Its expertise includes residential, education, mixed-use, transport and infrastructure, commercial, cultural and public work, workplaces, interior architecture and masterplanning. Projects range from houses and interiors to universities, public facilities and major planning work.

The practice describes itself as process-driven, using research, concept design and digital or environmental analysis to understand site and performance before form is fixed. Sustainability is treated as part of orientation, climate response, material and structural decisions, supported by techniques that test performance parameters while the design is still developing.

As projects move into developed design and documentation, structural, building-services, acoustic, transport, landscape and other specialist inputs can be coordinated with the architecture. A team in the 11–50 employee range supports complex stakeholder environments such as education, transport and public projects, while interior and masterplanning capability allows the practice to work across multiple scales.

The Brisbane studio is on Logan Road in Woolloongabba, with additional studios listed in Sydney and Kuala Lumpur and a wider Asia-Pacific project reach.
