Berwick Drafting works from Pakenham, Melbourne, focusing on residential and commercial building design, drafting, planning and permit documentation. The studio develops each commission around the site, the way the building will be used, planning requirements and the practical objectives of the project. Its work includes new homes, extensions, renovations, multi-unit, commercial and local development projects. From the first discussion, scope, spatial priorities and the approval pathway are considered together so that an early concept can continue into planning, permit and construction documentation without losing its original direction. During design, Berwick Drafting considers layout, site response, daylight, circulation, architectural character and buildability as connected decisions. Berwick Drafting operates within Hamilton Design and brings long-standing local project experience across Casey, Cardinia and Melbourne’s south-east. Residential work is shaped around everyday living and long-term use, while development and commercial projects also address site yield, planning controls, parking and access, building use and consultant requirements.
