BaseTao combines China shopping assistance and international forwarding within the same warehouse-centred workflow. Overseas customers can submit products from Chinese marketplaces such as Taobao and 1688 for assisted purchasing, while users who already buy from Chinese sellers can send their domestic parcels directly into the forwarding service. Both entry points lead to the same China-side inventory process, allowing purchases from different sellers to be reviewed and organised before the customer commits to an international shipment.

After goods arrive, the warehouse performs basic quality inspection and provides photographs so that customers can review the items while they are still in China. BaseTao offers up to about 120 days of free storage, which gives users time to wait for other orders rather than shipping every purchase immediately. Stored goods can later be consolidated into one outbound parcel or split into separate shipments when size, product category or route rules make that more appropriate. Reinforced packing and other warehouse handling can be selected before the final international parcel is released.

Australia is included in the destination network available to BaseTao users. The international route can be chosen after consolidation, when the actual packed weight, dimensions and product characteristics are known. Ordinary clothing, accessories and household purchases can be matched to applicable channels, while restricted products require closer attention. BaseTao’s rules identify categories such as mobile phones, computers, loose batteries, liquids, powders, lighters and gun-shaped products as restricted or unsuitable for normal forwarding, and oversized goods may also require prior confirmation.

The customer journey can begin either with assisted purchasing or self-purchased forwarding. Goods are delivered to the China warehouse, recorded into the account, weighed and inspected, and supported with QC images. The customer can then keep items in storage while other purchases arrive. When ready, selected inventory is submitted for an international parcel, with consolidation, splitting and packing decisions made before dispatch. Once the parcel has been prepared, the customer reviews the available Australia-bound transport choices and releases the shipment into the international network for destination delivery.
