ARCKE

ARCKE is a Brisbane architecture and interior design practice based in Paddington, with a strong concentration on residential work and the adaptation of Queenslanders and other existing homes. The studio treats the site, landscape, materials and daily life as connected design issues, often using courtyards, gardens and carefully controlled openings to strengthen the relationship between indoor and outdoor space.

Sustainability is embedded in the architectural response. The practice uses Brisbane’s subtropical conditions as a design input rather than relying only on mechanical systems after the building form has been resolved.

ARCKE can provide a traditional architectural service that extends from concept design through consultant coordination, documentation and contract administration during construction. This is particularly useful for renovation sites affected by character controls, small-lot conditions, height limits or flood overlays, where planning constraints and design ambitions need to be resolved together.

Established by Matt Kennedy in 2012, ARCKE operates from Agars Street in Paddington and works across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. The small studio is well suited to clients who want close design involvement and a residential response shaped around climate, existing character, landscape and long-term liveability. Its portfolio repeatedly turns Brisbane-specific constraints into part of the design strategy.
