Company Overview

Shiatsu literally means ‘finger pressure’ in Japanese, and is a type of massage therapy derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine. A Shiatsu practitioner applies palm and thumb pressure along the energy pathways on the recipient’s body to encourage the flow of Life Force or Qi . There are twelve main energy pathways (known as meridians) in the human body. Each meridian is connected to an internal organ and transports the vital energy of that organ to the rest of the body. Smooth flow of energy is essential for a balanced body, mind & spirit; should this flow be interrupted, physical, mental and emotional imbalances may occur. Shiatsu can increase self-awareness and self-development; it balances the underlying needs of a condition and therefore addresses both physical and emotional issues. Shiatsu strengthens the body’s immunity, increases the body’s energy level, blood circulation and promotes the natural self-healing process. Shiatsu is also known as ‘acupuncture without needles’ or acupressure. Anyone can receive Shiatsu, regardless of their age.
