Tranquil Architecture

From the capital region, Tranquil Architecture considers how architecture can support daily life, organisations and communities. Reiné and Paul Williams established Tranquil Architecture in 2021 to improve comfort in Canberra homes through cold winters and hot summers. Architecture and thermal assessment are developed together, allowing orientation, insulation, airtightness, glazing and planning to be tested early.

Services concentrate on energy-efficient homes, renovations, extensions, knockdown rebuilds, secondary dwellings, thermal assessment and interiors. Across different scales, the team considers relationships between building, street, landscape, neighbours and the routines inside. The practice uses a staged, fixed-fee framework, allowing clients to choose their level of involvement and receive advice at key points during construction.

From concept to delivery, Tranquil Architecture continues checking whether the original goals remain visible in scale, movement, daylight, material and environmental performance. The team adapts where necessary without allowing short-term changes to weaken the overall order. Clients receive clear information that can support approvals, pricing, coordination and construction, while understanding the spatial reasoning behind the main decisions. The outcome is intended to be useful, buildable and meaningful over time.
