Neil Cownie Architect

Neil Cownie Architect was established in 2009. It is a Swanbourne architecture practice centred on high-end bespoke housing, integrating architectural, interior, landscape and product-scale design thinking.

Core project types include high-end houses, alterations and additions, interiors, landscape and residential projects requiring a high degree of custom design. The boutique practice model suits residential clients seeking direct collaboration with the principal architect, allowing the design to respond closely to collections, furniture, art and specific household patterns.

Residential design begins with everyday life. Neil Cownie Architect considers orientation, daylight, ventilation, privacy, landscape connections and patterns of occupation together, then develops structure, materials and construction detail around that spatial idea.

Neil Cownie Architect works across architectural design, residential architecture, concept design, construction documentation, renovation design and sustainable architecture. As a project moves toward delivery, spatial design, technical detail and consultant coordination are developed together rather than as separate exercises. Design, approvals and technical work are treated as a continuous process. As the project develops, Neil Cownie Architect coordinates architecture, interiors and specialist systems into a coherent set of information, protecting the central spatial intent during delivery.
