Form and Function Building Design

Form and Function Building Design works from Warrnambool and South West Victoria, focusing on residential and commercial building design, interior design and town planning. The studio develops each commission around the site, the way the building will be used, planning requirements and the practical objectives of the project. Its work includes new homes, alterations and additions, dual occupancies, townhouses, units, commercial, childcare, education and office fit-out projects. From the first discussion, scope, spatial priorities and the approval pathway are considered together so that an early concept can continue into planning, permit and construction documentation without losing its original direction. During design, Form and Function Building Design considers layout, site response, daylight, circulation, architectural character and buildability as connected decisions. The all-female design team has worked together since 2006, developing building and interior design as one integrated process for residential and small-to-medium commercial work across South West Victoria. Residential work is shaped around everyday living and long-term use, while development and commercial projects also address site yield, planning controls, parking and access, building use and consultant requirements. This allows the design to become progressively more resolved rather than being recreated at each project stage.
