Maytree Studios

Maytree Studios is an architecture and interior design practice centred in Brisbane with a Sunshine Coast studio, working across homes, residential renovations, commercial spaces and heritage buildings. The team describes its process as human-led, beginning with client needs and then balancing budget, materials, construction techniques, project management and environmental considerations. Its portfolio includes new houses, alterations and additions, adaptive work to existing homes, and projects that explore sustainability and ageing-in-place. Maytree describes its philosophy as “humans first and architects second”. In project terms, that means beginning with how clients want to live or use a space and then testing design decisions against budget, materials, construction methods and project-management requirements. Renovation work is approached as more than simply adding area: existing character, garden relationships, natural light, changing family needs and long-term accessibility can all influence how new work is integrated with an older house. Its project portfolio shows a range of residential strategies, including updates to 1970s houses, additions to worker’s cottages, courtyard homes, environmentally conscious residences and work that considers ageing in place.
