de Rome Architects

de Rome Architects builds its work on the combination of local knowledge, design judgement and delivery capability. Jessica de Rome founded de Rome Architects in Canberra in 2013, and the studio now works from Griffith. The practice looks for opportunities specific to each site, context and brief, with work ranging from finely resolved houses to alterations, dual occupancies and multi-residential projects.

The practice handles new houses, alterations, dual occupancies, multi-residential and small commercial work balancing technical and environmental concerns. Each commission begins with a clear problem frame before spatial, environmental, approval and construction questions are brought into the same decision cycle. The team combines design rigour with a grounded understanding of structure, construction, sustainability and approvals, keeping concepts connected to delivery.

de Rome Architects suits clients who value a transparent process and want to understand trade-offs before making commitments. Complex issues are divided into discussable stages, with visual material, written information and regular collaboration building shared understanding. Architectural value is considered through long-term comfort, adaptability, maintenance and sense of place, not simply appearance on completion. Each project can therefore respond to its location, users and available construction resources.
