IKAI Design

IKAI Design is a Toowoomba studio combining building design and interior design for residential and commercial projects. Its process is organised around discovery, concept, development and delivery, giving clients a defined sequence from the initial brief through to more detailed project information. This helps major decisions about site, needs and budget happen before extensive documentation is produced.

The discovery stage establishes how the space needs to work and what constraints affect the project. Concept design tests planning and form, while the development stage resolves architecture and interiors together, including materials, joinery and key technical issues. Delivery then brings the design into construction drawings, specifications and the information needed for approvals, pricing and consultant coordination.

Residential work can include new homes, alterations and interior environments, while commercial projects add operational, brand and user-experience requirements. The practice also provides project-management support where a client benefits from additional coordination between design, consultants and project milestones.

Based on Bridge Street in Toowoomba, IKAI operates as a 2–10 person studio. The practice is suited to Queensland clients who want building and interior design to remain connected throughout a clear staged process.
