With new homes, secondary dwellings, extensions, renovations, dual occupancies, townhouses and villa-style developments forming the main body of work, Francis Design operates in Sutherland as a residential building design studio. The practice approaches design as a combination of site use, spatial organisation, project stage and documentation needs, rather than as a purely visual exercise.

Francis Design works across Architectural Design, Concept Design, Residential Architecture, Renovation Design, Development Application Drawings, DA Approval, Construction Documentation, and 3D Rendering. Concept and architectural design establish the residential direction, residential architecture and renovation design develop the scheme, and later application drawings, DA support and construction documentation prepare it for approval and construction stages.

Francis Design spans single-home work and multi-dwelling formats such as dual occupancies, townhouses and villa-style development. This creates a mix of family-scale design decisions and broader site-planning questions, while secondary dwellings and extensions require the new accommodation to be resolved in relation to an existing house or established site.
