Anabode Design

Anabode Design works from Blackburn North, Melbourne, focusing on residential building design, sustainable design and architectural drafting. The studio develops each commission around the site, the way the building will be used, planning requirements and the practical objectives of the project. Its work includes new homes, residential extensions, renovations and unit developments. From the first discussion, scope, spatial priorities and the approval pathway are considered together so that an early concept can continue into planning, permit and construction documentation without losing its original direction. During design, Anabode Design considers layout, site response, daylight, circulation, architectural character and buildability as connected decisions. The studio centres its work on residential projects, bringing existing-building conditions, household use and sustainable-design principles into design development. Residential work is shaped around everyday living and long-term use, while development and commercial projects also address site yield, planning controls, parking and access, building use and consultant requirements. This allows the design to become progressively more resolved rather than being recreated at each project stage. Depending on the brief, the project can continue through concept design, design development, planning drawings and construction documentation.
