Blow Its A Hair Thing

The name Blow- It's a Hair Thing was derived from the word Blow, a suggestion from a former team member. As provocative as it may sound, and many jokes later… It was suggested that It’s a Hair Thing was added to give context that we were indeed not a brothel. The business was first established on the 17th of November 2003 by Steve La Bella, whom was the heart and soul of the brand. From the La Bella days of Melbourne Street, it was only a matter of time to expand his enterprise and rebrand into the heart of the city, Charles Street. In 2013, the salon moved into Adelaide’s newest shopping precinct, Rundle Place. With major health battles with non-Hodgkin lymphoma a year earlier, it was evidence that Steve La Bella needed partners with a younger perspective, and fresh ideas in evolving the business. Dion La Bella and Hung Tran became an essential core to progressing the business further. Within less than two years, the success of the partnership was evident as it led to the opening of the second location on the 1st of May 2015-2020, Firle. That all changed with the sudden passing of our founder, Steve La Bella in 2023 that left an emptiness in our hearts that no void could fill. It caused ripple within the business in ways we could not describe. The memories of Dion’s late father and pressure of continuing the legacy was too much to bear and it was decided that the partnership would part ways. As one door closes, a new chapter begins…
